On Sunday 29 April 2007, Ruislip's Lelung Dharma Centre successfully held their first charity walk of the year. With lovely warm sunny weather and spring flowers in abundance, all 19 participants, including H.E. Lelung Rinpoche, enjoyed the delightful three-mile stroll around the two peaceful lakes at Rickmansworth's Aquadrome. Family, friends and even pets joined in, and a lunchtime picnic in the sun rounded off a wonderful morning.
Through their walk, members raised funds for H.E. Lelung Rinpoche’s Geden Phacho Bhucho Project (Saving the Buddhist Teachings) which will go straight into the Lelung Dharma Trust’s account created specifically for this vital project.
The Geden Phacho Bhucho Project office in Dharamsala, India, has three staff members: a secretary; and two experts who are locating, gathering and cataloguing all the precious teachings and oral transmissions. Lelung Dharma Trust needs to raise at least £300 every month to pay office fess and the salaries of the staff members carrying out this important work. On top of that, money is needed to enable young monks to receive these teachings and oral transmissions.
Thank you to everyone who turned up for the walk, and to those who were unable to make it and kindly donated money anyway. Your generosity is greatly appreciated by Lelung Rinpoche, Lelung Dharma Trust and Lelung Dharma Centre. There will be another walk next month, details to be announced soon.
