TELEVISION PRESENTER FEARNE COTTON AT LELUNG CHARITY EVENT
Television presenter Fearne Cotton mingled and enjoyed the sunshine with the locals in Ruislip on Saturday, 14 April. She was visiting the Lelung Dharma Centre's Therapy Day, a Tibetan fundraising event. Fearne received a complementary holistic healing therapy and was introduced to H.E. Lelung Rinpoche, the spiritual director of Ruislip's Lelung Dharma Centre. Lelung Rinpoche presented Fearne with a beautiful holy object: a Tibetan thangka painting of Buddha Shakyamuni, as a gift.
The event offered a range of therapies, including massage, reiki and reflexology. Traditional Tibetan and Indian food was served throughout the day. Visitors enjoyed perusing the stalls of exotic gifts and books written by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. A photographic exhibition of Tibetan people in exile in Dharamsala, India, the home of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, also created much interest and raised awareness of their plight.
Local Tibetan lama H.E. Lelung Rinpoche is spearheading a major Tibetan project to save precious Tibetan Buddhist teachings, which are in danger of being lost forever. He said, "At the very least, Tibetan people are human beings and Tibetan culture is part of the world’s culture. Therefore, thinking of saving this is a wonderful thought." If you are interested in his projects you are welcome to give a donation, whether it is small or large, and it would be greatly appreciated.
